Alabama schools delay opening Feb. 12, 2024 due to rain, flooding

Some Alabama school systems are delaying the start of classes Monday morning following heavy rains and flooding.

South Alabama was rocked by a round of Super Bowl Sunday storms that left some flooding.

The National Weather Service said this morning that severe thunderstorms will remain possible in the southeast while a system moves to the east, with damaging winds, quarter size hail, and a brief tornado possible.

Here are some school systems announcing delays:

Lee County Schools: Two-hour delay. Buses will run on a two-hour delay.

Lowndes County Schools: Two-hour delay. Buses will run on a two-hour delay.
