Alabama man arrested for trafficking after high-speed chase in Troup County

On April 12, a routine site visitors cease on Interstate 85 southbound close to mile marker 7 become a high-speed pursuit that ended with the arrest of Henry Murphy Jr., 35, of Selma, Alabama.

Capt. Nathan Taylor of the Troup County Sheriff’s Workplace initiated the cease after observing Murphy’s silver Cadillac following too intently. Upon approaching the automobile, Capt. Taylor detected the odor of narcotics emanating from inside. He requested Murphy to exit the automobile for additional dialogue, however when Taylor tried to detain Murphy in handcuffs, he resisted and re-entered the automobile, regardless of being Tasered.

Murphy then led authorities on a high-speed chase, exiting at Exit 2 and driving by a development zone. As he tried to run away after crashing the automobile on Avenue Okay at East tenth Avenue in West Level, Okay-9 Chapo was deployed by Capt. Taylor to subdue Murphy, and he was subsequently arrested.

Throughout a search of the automobile, authorities found roughly 10 kilos of high-grade marijuana and a big sum of cash believed to be proceeds from unlawful drug gross sales.

Murphy was taken to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Heart for remedy of non-life-threatening accidents after which transported to the Troup County Jail, the place he faces prices of Trafficking Marijuana, Fleeing/Trying to Elude (Felony), Obstruction of an Officer, and Following Too Intently.
