Alabama made a 6-foot, 750-pound gingerbread Bryant-Denny Stadium

Alabama fans love Bryant-Denny Stadium, but has it ever looked…appetizing?

It does now, anyway, because a chef and his team at the University of Alabama built a 6-foot, 750-pound gingerbread replica of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Created by Bama Dining’s executive chef Matt Lowery and his culinary team ahead of the holidays and the 2023 SEC Championship Game, the piece is built from gingerbread, frosting and assorted candies.

You can see the stadium replica in Lakeside Dining Hall on campus in Tuscaloosa.

In a release, UA said Bama Dining typically builds a gingerbread house for display each holiday season, but last year they sculpted Denny Chimes out of sweets. This year, the logical progression was football.

“It has always been a passion of mine to step outside of the box and create something that will bring others happiness. This rings so true with our students at the University of Alabama,” said Lowery, according to the release. “They are so passionate about their university and the Crimson Tide. Watching them stop and take photos with the Bryant-Denny Stadium Gingerbread House is the icing on the cake.”

According to UA, the Bryant-Denny Stadium gingerbread replica is approximately 6-feet-long and weighs approximately 750 pounds. It features more than 3,500 pieces of candy placed by hand and took more than 40 hours to construct.

The school said students and visitors can see the gingerbread Bryant-Denny Stadium and Denny Chimes at Lakeside Dining Hall from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
