Alabama Center for the Arts cuts ribbon on new residence hall

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) – Students at the Alabama Center for the Arts are getting a new place to live.

Leaders with Calhoun Community College and Athens State University attended Tuesday’s ribbon cutting.

The new residence hall will serve fine arts students taking classes at the Alabama Center for the Arts down the road.

Athens State University President Doctor Catherine Wehlburg said it’s a game changer for students.

“This learning community and residence hall is going to be a pathway for our students to enter into the workforce and do it in a way that provides them with a safe space that is also beautiful,” Wehlburg said.

The Alabama Center for the Arts is a multimillion-dollar partnership between Calhoun and Athens State.
