Tennessee softball reacts to its No. 3 seed, which is the highest NCAA Tournament seed in program history.
Tennessee softball earned the No. 3 overall seed in the 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament on Sunday, setting up potential matchup with a rival in the Super Regionals.
The Lady Vols are lined up to host No. 14 Alabama in the Knoxville Super Regional, provided both programs win their respective regional matchups.

Tennessee went 2-1 in its lone series with the Crimson Tide this season, winning 5-0 and 2-0 before falling 1-0 in the final matchup of the three-game set in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Lady Vols pitchers Karlyn Pickens and Payton Gottshall combined to pitch 21 innings, striking out 14 batters while allowing 10 hits.
First, Tennessee must get past its regional of Virginia, Miami (Ohio) and Dayton, which the Lady Vols will host at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville. Alabama’s regional includes Clemson, Southeastern Louisiana and USC Upstate.
