Euclid Telescope Launches on Mission to Map the Cosmos

The European Space Agency launched its Euclid spacecraft from Cape Canaveral, Fla., on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The telescope is on a mission to record billions of galaxies over the next six years.

Three, two, one. [unclear] Lift off. [unclear] — propulsion is nominal. Vehicle is pitching downrange. Falcon 9 has successfully lifted off from Pad 40. Falcon 9 is supersonic. Stage separation confirmed. [applause] Euclid spacecraft separation confirmed. And there you can see the Euclid payload drifting away from Falcon 9’s second stage.
