MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont wildlife officials are reminding people to avoid swimming and other non-fishing activities at fishing access points.

Vermont Fish & Wildlife says swimming poses a risk because of boat launches, retrievals, and on-shore fishing. They also say building fires can also be unsafe to both wildlife and anglers.

Littering, camping, picnicking, and commercial activity are also not permitted at any of the state’s 203 designated fishing access areas.
