Vt. man arrested in connection with deadly overdose

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont man will be in court after police say he sold the drugs that killed a man.

Tyler Matthews, 19, of Montpelier, died by overdose last year. After his death, the Montpelier Police Department carried out a monthslong investigation to find who supplied the drugs.

Thursday, police arrested Benjamin Wiater, 22, of Calais, on charges of dispensing a regulated drug with death resulting. He’s due in court on Friday.
