Vermont State Police investigate deaths of two people in Newfane
NEWFANE, Vt. (WRGB) — Vermont State Police are investigating the deaths of two individuals whose bodies were found Friday at a residence in Newfane, authorities said in a release.
Newfane is located just over an hour northeast of Hoosick Falls, in Windham County.
Police reportedly received a call shortly after 5 p.m. Friday from relatives who reported finding two family members dead in a home on South Wardsboro Road. First responders confirmed the deaths after arriving on scene.
According to a release, the initial investigation indicated that this was an isolated incident involving two individuals who knew each other.
“Current indications are that everyone involved with this incident is accounted for,” a State Police spokesperson said in a release. “No one is in custody. The State Police has not identified any threat to the public.”
Authorities said the scene on South Wardsboro Road has been secured and will be processed for evidence. The remains of the individuals who were found deceased will be taken to the medical examiner’s office in Burlington for autopsies to confirm their identities, and to determine the cause and manner of death.
