USPS facilities may be moving due to mail processing concerns
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The delivery destination may be right down the street, but a new USPS initiative could have your mail on the move.
In a letter to the postmaster general, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders raised concerns about mail processing facility reviews – including at two of Vermont’s facilities.
USPS says the reviews are just to evaluate operations and future uses and that they will not result in closures or career-employee layoffs.
But Sanders said it is already causing layoffs and slower delivery, saying mail processing in Vermont’s Burlington and White River Junction locations will likely be moved over a hundred miles away to Hartford, Connecticut.
