According to Reuters, the performer filed a lawsuit against DeGrenier Contracting and Property Management at a federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts, this past Thursday.

Per the filing, Sarandon’s representatives found numerous problems with her residence, including issues with mold, insulation and an unfinished ceiling in her main bedroom.

The actress filed her lawsuit via her limited liability company, The Right to Bear Farms, through which she also purchased her 45-acre property in 2018.

The performer, who is also known for her long history of environmental advocacy, intended to reside in an ‘entirely off-the-grid’ home that would run on solar power and geothermal energy.’

Sarandon was said to have made her requests about the planned home’s specifications ‘in light of increasing global environmental instability.’

In her filing, the actress alleged that DeGrenier’s owner gave false statements about his qualifications and charged for nonexistent services.

She also alleged that the owner was paid a sum of $140,000 to serve as a caretaker for the property following the home’s construction, although she expressed that the individual did nothing to earn the amount.

The performer has since made claims of unjust enrichment, fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of contract, and she is seeking unspecified damages..

DeGrenier Contracting and Property Management’s owner declined to make any public comments about the lawsuit.
