Police seek public assistance in search for Rutland robbery suspect

RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont State Police are asking the public for help identifying a robbery suspect.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a Sunoco station on Route 7 in Rutland for a report of a robbery.

Police say a man entered the store and demanded money from the register. After failing to get money, he allegedly took off with a carton of stolen cigarettes.

No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, wearing a blue hoodie that said NEWPORT, a tan Peterbilt ball cap, tan sneakers and jeans. Anyone with information is asked to call the state police in Rutland at 802-773-9101 or to leave an anonymous tip online.
