Obituary: Laurel Hammond, 1950-2022

Our Mother, Laurel Hammond, died final week at 72 years of age. Over the course of 12 years, she fought three courageous battles with breast most cancers however finally succumbed. After a number of days surrounded by loving family and friends and the fantastic nurses and volunteers on the McClure Miller Respite Home, she was lastly in a position to let go and discover peace.

Laurel is survived by her son, Colin; daughter-in-law, Annie; daughter, Olivia; former partner, Neal; rascal-of-a-cat, Izzy; siblings, Lynne, Leonard, Leslie and Charlie; and a plethora of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Lyle, and mom, Lois. We’re all saddened by the immense loss however will attempt to dwell our lives in her reminiscence by taking quiet walks within the woods and having fun with the sunsets over Lake Champlain.
A celebration of Laurel’s life will likely be held at 12:00 p.m. on November 19, 2022, at All Souls Interfaith Gathering.
