Syracuse, N.Y. — There was certainly some “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” for the Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team in its 20-7 season-opening win over Vermont at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday afternoon.
Syracuse’s leading scorer from the 2023 season, Joey Spallina, piled up seven points (three goals, four assists) in the win. Spallina scored with behind-the-back passes, off-angle charges to the net and the usual flair he has trained Syracuse fans to expect from his play.
