  • The University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team is unlikely to make the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
  • The Rams ended their season with a loss to Fordham in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, finishing with an 18-13 overall record.
  • Their last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 2018, and an NIT bid also seems unlikely this year.

When the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament bracket is revealed tonight, will the University of Rhode Island hear its name called?

The answer is a certain no. The Rams ended their run at the Atlantic 10 Tournament by losing to the Fordham Rams in the opening round on Wednesday, 88-71. URI ended its season with a record of 18-13 overall, 7-11 in conference play. Rhody is at No. 149 in both the NET rankings (as of Wednesday) and Kenpom.com.

The last time Rhode Island qualified for the NCAA Tournament was in 2018 when it reached the Big Dance as a No. 7 seed, winning its first game over No. 10 Oklahoma, 83-78 in overtime, before losing to No. 2 Duke, 82-67. An NIT bid seems out of reach, as well.
