Rhode Island woman arrested for DUI after wrong-way crash in Killingly
A Rhode Island woman was arrested for DUI Sunday morning in Connecticut after a wrong-way crash on I-395.
State police responded to a report of a two-car collision on the northbound side of I-395 near exit 38 in Killingly just before 2 a.m.
Upon arrival, Troopers found a Toyota Camry with a Rhode Island registration stopped in the right shoulder of the roadway and a Ford Escape with a Connecticut registration in the left lane.
Police said both vehicles were damaged.
The driver of the Ford told Troopers that the Camry suddenly pulled out of the right shoulder to make a U-turn within the lanes and that she was unable to avoid a collision.

The driver of the Camry was identified as 36-year-old Meghan Wolfsberger of Rhode Island.
Police detected the smell of alcohol on Wolfsberger and noticed other “signs of possible impairment”.
Troopers said they found empty bottles in her car “consistent in appearance with alcoholic beverage containers” and said Wolfsberger admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages prior to driving.
She later failed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
- Driving the wrong way on a divided highway
- Operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration
Wolfsberger was later released on $500 non-surety bond.
She is scheduled for arraignment at Danielson Superior Court on August 9.
