PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police will swear-in its first Black superintendent this week.
Gov. Dan McKee on Wednesday mentioned that there will likely be a ceremony to swear-in Lt. Col. Darnell Weaver.
Weaver will change Col. James Manni, who will likely be taking a brand new function as city supervisor of South Kingstown.
The Cranston native has been with the company for 28 years, and at the moment the deputy superintendent and chief of subject operations. He would be the fifteenth superintendent of state police.
Weaver will likely be sworn into his new function Friday morning on the Rhode Island State Home.
