BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Rescue crews are conducting shoreline and water searches for a missing kayaker in Narragansett Bay.

Authorities said they are looking for Timothy Chant, a 60-year-old Warwick resident, who was last seen launching his boat from Conimicut Point in Warwick around noon on Sunday.

ABC 6 News crews observed officials retrieving a kayak from the water near Rhode Island Country Club on Barrington Beach.

Warwick Police Captain Charles Boisseau said the department received a call for a missing kayaker just before 5 p.m. Sunday evening.

Boisseau added that he believes Chant was missing for about five hours prior to Warwick’s involvement.

The Warren Police Department confirmed they were involved in the search effort as well.
