Ocean State Job Lot Donates Nearly $400K Worth Of Dog, Cat Food To Animal Welfare Groups

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Ocean State Job donated nearly $400,000 in cat and dog food to animal welfare organizations, a company spokesperson said Friday.

The donations were part of the North Kingstown-based retail chain’s To The Rescue program, which donated to qualifying nonprofits on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify for the program, every organization needed to be a registered nonprofit with a tax-ID, have state-issued paperwork stating the organization serves animal welfare, and be able to transport the pet food from the store themselves.

“Ocean State Job Lot’s Charitable Foundation has long been committed to helping those in need, including our four-legged and feathered friends in animal shelters and rescues,” Ocean State Job Lot co-founder Alan Perlman said. “We are proud to partner with and support animal organizations and their efforts to heal, protect, and find permanent homes for the animals in each of the communities in which Ocean State Job Lot operates.”

Ocean State Job Lot’s To The Rescue program debuted in 2019. Since its inception, the program has donated to more than 350 animal organizations, according to the company.
