FEMA grants over $1M to Rhode Islanders affected by September storm | ABC6

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Islanders affected by September’s storm may receive part of $1,036,133 that the Federal Emergency Management Agency is granting.

FEMA said that residents of Providence County affected by the storms are eligible to apply for FEMA’s Individual and Households Program.

Two-hundred forty applications have already been approved, and FEMA said the funds come less than two weeks since a federal disaster declaration was approved by President Biden.

FEMA also outlined what exactly the funds can be used for, with $978,738 in housing grants to help pay for home repair, home replacement and rental assistance for temporary housing and $57,395 in Other Needs Assistance, which may include childcare, moving and storage and any medical costs incurred as a result of the disaster.

Residents eligible to apply for assistance can do so by calling 800-621-3362 or online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
