Detroit City FC was mere minutes away from recording its first victory in over a month.

That was until a late equalizer by Rhode Island FC made Le Rouge settle for a 1-1 tie on Saturday at Hamtramck’s Keyworth Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, Ben Morris gave DCFC a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute in a USL Championship match that was nationally broadcast on CBS.

However, Detroit City couldn’t hang on and had to share the points, as Rhode Island’s Clay Holstad knotted it in the 93rd minute and extended Le Rouge’s winless streak to six games (three draws, three losses).

Detroit City FC’s last victory was June 29 against Eastern Conference cellar dweller Miami FC. DCFC has tallied three goals in the six matches since.

DCFC will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Pittsburgh. The match is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS Sports.
