CRANSTON – Joshua Torres, the 26-year-old Adult Correctional Institutions inmate who walked off his work duty two weeks ago, has been found and arrested.
The arrest was announced by the Rhode Island Department of Corrections on Wednesday afternoon.
Torres was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police’s Violent Fugitive Task Force at the Super 8 motel in West Greenwich at approximately 1:30 p.m. without incident, according to state police. He was taken back to the Intake Service Center at ACI.
Torres left his work duty assignment on Oct. 10
Torres, of Providence, walked away from his work assignment at the Department of Correction’s Central Distribution Center at 144 Power Road in Cranston on the morning of Oct. 10.
Torres was serving time in the minimum security unit for burglary, conspiracy and robbery at the time, according to J.R. Ventura, spokesman for the department.
