NEW DELHI: The Toronto Maple Leafs emerged victorious with a 3-2 overtime win against the Pittsburgh Penguins, courtesy of Jake McCabe‘s game-winning goal just 1:30 into the extra period. McCabe’s goal, his eighth of the season, came off a pass from Auston Matthews, adding to the latter’s league-leading goal tally.
Matthews himself contributed with a goal earlier in the game, his 65th of the season, giving Toronto a 2-1 lead in the third period.However, the Penguins responded with Drew O’Connor‘s goal to tie the game at 2-2.

Matthew Knies also found the back of the net for the Maple Leafs, while goaltender Ilya Samsonov made 30 saves to secure the win for Toronto.
Rickard Rakell scored for the Penguins, assisted by Evgeni Malkin, to open the scoring in the first period. Despite the loss, Pittsburgh extended their point streak to nine games, showcasing their resilience as they battle for a playoff spot.
Alex Nedeljkovic made 20 saves for the Penguins, with the Maple Leafs failing to capitalize on several scoring opportunities, including a breakaway chance for Mitch Marner in the second period.
Overall, it was a tightly contested game between two competitive teams, with both sides showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive resilience. However, it was the Maple Leafs who ultimately emerged victorious in overtime, securing their fifth win in six games and maintaining their strong position in the standings.
