Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward is urging people to have patience as the Steelers continue their pursuit of Aaron Rodgers.

The team and Rodgers have been discussing the matter for over two months, and they still have no final answer from the four-time MVP.

That has caused lots of angst in the fanbase, but Heyward thinks people need to have some patience with Rodgers as everyone continues their wait for an answer from the future Hall of Famer.

“I don’t think we give enough patience to people. I think in this day and age with social media and everything, we kind of just expect an answer right there, right now. I don’t know where this is going to end. I don’t know if he’s ever going to be a Steeler. I don’t know if he’s already a Steeler, but, I think, let’s just show some patience.”

The Steelers took Ohio State quarterback Will Howard in the sixth round, 185th overall. Still, he might not be the last addition to the quarterback room, which currently also includes Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson. Rodgers is, of course, still hanging out there and, apparently, still very much on the team’s radar.

“That’s certainly a possibility,” Mike Tomlin said of the team adding Rodgers on NFL Network. “I’m not going to forecast the ifs and whens regarding not only him but any other potential free agent. We’ve had really productive talks with him, and I’ve enjoyed having productive talks with him and getting to know him.”

Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show two weeks ago that he was working through personal issues and could not commit to signing with a team just yet.

“I am trying to be open to everything and not specifically attached to a decision. I’m not holding anyone hostage,” Rodgers said. “I’ve been upfront from the beginning. I don’t mean any disrespect to anyone on a team. I’m just going through a lot in my personal life that has to take [priority}. I don’t think it was fair to the Steelers or anyone while I deal with a lot of things off the field. The people that know, know. The people that don’t, make up (expletive) about me.”

Yet, Pittsburgh passing on many quarterbacks is a sign that Rodgers will eventually sign. Meanwhile, they will put their eggs in the basket for the 2026 quarterback class, where they are almost certain to take a swing as they remain in quarterback limbo.
