Pittsburg names Popp next girl’s basketball head coach – KOAM

Chris Popp spent the final two seasons as an assistant coach at Pitt State.

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg Excessive Faculty introduced on Wednesday Chris Popp would be the new head coach of the college’s woman’s basketball program.

“I’m from Kansas and I benefit from the measurement of the city and the folks. On the finish of the day, it’s concerning the folks,” Popp says about taking the job, “It’s a terrific place with nice folks. I’ve been inside a 3 hour radius of right here for about 30 years, together with as a coach and as a recruiter for the final 18 years. I’m pretty accustomed to southeast Kansas basketball.”

Popp spent the final two seasons with the Pitt State males’s basketball program, serving as an assistant coach underneath Kim Anderson.

He spent 2016-2020 as the boys’s basketball head coach at Missouri State-West Plains, and was an assistant coach for the College of Arkansas-Ft. Smith from 2011-2016. He’s been within the school sport since 2004, so returning to the highschool stage will likely be a little bit of an opportunity for Popp.

“Will probably be an adjustment, however I’ve been across the sport in lots of methods and lots of completely different ranges,” Popp says, “What makes teaching nice is similar factor at any stage.
