Denver Broncos sign former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker

The Denver Broncos are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Kwon Alexander to their practice squad, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting. Alexander tore his Achilles against the Green Bay Packers last season but has been rehabbing back to the NFL. Now, he gets a chance to play with a new team.

The Broncos have struggled at linebacker this season, especially in coverage. Cody Barton and Alex Singleton are their starters, but Alexander can help the Broncos as an all-around veteran.

In his nine games with the Steelers last season, Alexander had 41 tackles and five tackles for loss. He started two games after Cole Holcomb was lost for the season with a serious knee injury. Alexander had one interception and a forced fumble.

The former Pro Bowl linebacker has been in the league since 2015. A fourth-round draft pick out of LSU, Alexander played four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to kick off his career. Since leaving, he had successful stints with the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and the Steelers. However, injuries have continued to haunt Alexander in his NFL career.

Now 30 years old, Alexander is still looking to show that he has more in the tank, and he should be able to do that on a Broncos team that needs plenty of help in their linebacker room.
