US Navy identifies pilot killed in Mojave Desert fighter jet crash

TRONA, Calif. — A U.S. Navy pilot killed after his fighter jet crashed within the Mojave Desert Friday afternoon has been recognized by army officers.

Lt. Richard Bullock was killed when his F/A-18E Tremendous Hornet crashed close to Trona, in San Bernardino County, at roughly 2:30 p.m. on June 3.

Bullock was assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 113 based mostly at Naval Air Station Lemoore, army officers say.

He was flying a routine coaching mission on the time of the crash. His fighter jet went down in a distant, unpopulated space.

Officers say that no civilians have been harm.

The crash is beneath investigation.
