This South Jersey firehouse has an all-women crew!
DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — For the primary time ever, a South Jersey firehouse had an all-female crew on name, and simply in time for Ladies’s Historical past Month.
Union Fireplace Firm, which is a part of Deptford Fireplace Division in Deptford Township, New Jersey, has all the time made an effort to recruit feminine members.
At present about 25% of its whole crew are ladies.
When station management realized it had the staffing to place an all-female crew on name, it determined to just do that.
The ladies say they hope to encourage extra ladies to develop into firefighters. That is the case for one of many volunteer firefighters, Megan Thelen.
Everybody in her household is a firefighter, together with her mother!
