Suspect in New Britain homicide captured in Pennsylvania

NEW BRITAIN , Conn. (WFSB) – A Hartford man is accused of killing a 27-year-old woman who was found dead in a New Britain apartment Friday afternoon.

A New Britain police officer was traveling near Fairview Street around 4:10 p.m. when the officer was alerted to a group of people seeking help from police.

The officer learned that family members went to 157 Fairview Street to check on a relative and found her unresponsive inside the apartment.

Extra police were called and an investigation began.

Police identified the woman as 27-year-old Moenisha Collins.

Police said Collins was shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The New Britain State’s Attorneys office and Connecticut State Police assisted detectives with notifications.

Their efforts led them to identify a suspect, 46-year-old Vincent Blair from Hartford. Police said Blair fled to Pennsylvania but was captured by police.

New Britain Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Blair, charging him with murder. He is still in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition.
