Residents crowd Chester County meeting to oppose Amazon warehouse project

UWCHLAN TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) — It was standing-room solely Monday evening throughout a group assembly a few potential growth of a multi-building Amazon warehouse website in Uwchlan Township.

The Uwchlan Township Board of Supervisors moved their common assembly to Lionville Center College to accommodate the massive crowd.

“I believe tonight what we actually need to do is specific to township officers our issues and wish them to see that it isn’t two or three individuals. We have a number of hundred individuals that basically want to ensure this undertaking is checked out very carefully,” stated Jim Might of Uwchlan Township.

The potential growth can be situated on 237 acres of land on Lionville Station Highway and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The undertaking would come with 4 warehouses totaling 1,960,000 sq. ft of growth.

Residents who oppose the undertaking say they’re involved about three issues: visitors, elevated noise, and the way it will all negatively impression the world.

“Our greatest issues are actually maintaining the neighborhoods. Now we have lived there for a few years and all people out in that space is on water wells and we might be sharing that water with a brand new growth,” stated Might.

A township spokesperson says the builder, Audubon Land Improvement, has solely submitted a preliminary sketch of the plan.

“I might actually prefer to see one thing else go into this property and never large Amazon or another related warehouse,” stated Kent Empie who opposes the event.

Audubon Land Improvement didn’t reply to our request for remark.
