RailRiders shut out Tides, even series in Pennsylvania
The Norfolk Tides incurred their second shutout defeat of the season, falling 10-0 Friday night to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before 4,556 in eastern Pennsylvania.
The RailRiders evened the six-game International League series at two victories apiece. Carlos Narvaez, Ben Rice and T.J. Rumfield each homered and drove in three runs. Rice doubled twice and scored twice, while Narvaez was 3 for 4 and scored three times.
Will Warren (4-4) struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings for the victory, walking one and giving up three hits. Duane Underwood Jr. and Phil Bickford continued the shutout.
Tides starter Justin Armbruester’s struggles continued. Giving up six earned runs, three hits and three walks in 2 1/3 innings, he fell to 1-5 and saw his earned-run average climb to 10.40.
Reliever Trey McGough balked twice in 2 2/3 innings and gave up three walks and two hits, but just one run.
The Tides had just five hits, all singles — two by Nick Maton.
The series will continue at 6:35 Saturday night.
