Mark Broumand — a fine jewelry and wedding ring designer and retailer “driven by a commitment to quality” — conducted and published a study which found the states that had more amour than others.
According to the study’s press release, this was done by analyzing Google search data against 16 keywords including “florists near me;” “engagement rings;” and “romantic restaurants.” The data gleaned was then compared against each state’s population in order to calculate the rate of monthly searches per 100,000 residents for final results.
As previously mentioned, Pennsylvania claimed the number five spot. This isn’t the first time the state has received a romance badge, either, as a February PennLive article reported how a similar study ranked it as the ninth overall most romantic state.”
“A location known for its picturesque landscapes, this state is searching for romantic terms 952 times per 100,000 residents,” reads the Mark Broumand study’s release. “In the last 12 months, ‘engagement rings’ has been searched for 36,800 times and ‘florists near me’ 17,2225 times.
“‘Wedding venues near me’ also has 14,775 searches, suggesting residents are hoping to plan a celebration in their home state of Pennsylvania.”
Rounding out the top five was Massachusetts in fourth (1,006 monthly romantic searches per 100,000 residents); New York in third (1,021); Delaware in second (1,035); and the Garden State, New Jersey, in first (1,057).
