Pennsylvania man arrested after assaulting a police officer
MILFORD, NY (WBNG) — The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for assaulting a deputy during a traffic stop.
Officials arrested 36-year-old Jamesan P. Conville from Lititz, Pennsylvania.
On Feb.14, at 9:00 P.M., an Otsego County Deputy Sheriff conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation on Interstate 88 in the Town of Milford. While conducting the investigation the sheriff discovered Conville had a handgun.
Conville proceeded to flee the scene and dragged the deputy approximately 300 feet across the interstate. The deputy was able to get free and was later transported to Bassett Hospital for medical treatment.
Conville was found about five hours later with the help of the New York State Police and Massachusetts State Police. He was arrested in Massachusetts on an active arrest warrant from Otsego County Court and was found with a fully loaded Glock 43X.
Investigators from Otsego County took custody of Conville from Massachusetts District Court on March 8, following an extradition hearing. He was transported to Otsego County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Conville was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Assault in the Second Degree (3 counts), Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree reckless endangerment in the Second Degree, obstruction of governmental administration resisting arrest and traffic infractions.
He is held $15,000 cash or $150,000 surety bond bail recommendation and was processed by the Otsego County Correctional Facility.
The injured Deputy has made a full recovery, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
