SPRINGFIELD TWP., Pa. – A controversial quarry proposal in higher Bucks County, that is been on the desk for years, is one step nearer to taking place.

The Springfield Township Supervisors have granted conditional-use approval to H&Okay’s proposal for a quarry on 196 acres.

It could be situated on industrially-zoned property off of Springfield Avenue and Salem Highway, a brief distance from Route 309.

The conditional approval comes with provisions, equivalent to limiting hours of operation, the magnitude of blasting, and truck routes.

The Clear Air Council says the choice defies residents and companies unified towards the plan.

The group says the quarry can be developed on principally forested property and wetlands.
