A ‘Win-Win’ for Restaurants and Migrants: Subsidized Free Meals

Beatstro, in the South Bronx, was buzzing with employees preparing the day’s 2,800 meals, which would all go to migrants.

The restaurant receives a flat rate in exchange for breakfasts, lunches and dinners, cooked fresh and delivered to shelter sites.

“Everyone deserves a good meal, no matter what situation you are in,” the head chef, Luis Martinez, told me.
