Weeks later, New Jersey community still outraged by embattled principal

ELIZABETH, N.J. (PIX11) — On Thursday, neighborhood activists returned to a public college board assembly in Elizabeth, outraged {that a} principal — accused of suggesting a particular wants pupil use one racial time period to interchange one other — was transferred as an alternative of being fired.

In an inside college e mail obtained by PIX11 Information, one of many district’s highschool principals informed employees that the Board of Schooling “voted to reassign Mrs. McGovern.”

“We knew from the beginning that Mrs. McGovern’s task at our annex can be momentary and I’m understanding of the controversy surrounding her circumstances,” the principal wrote.

Throughout Thursday’s board assembly, board members didn’t need native activist Kason Little to say McGovern’s identify, citing the district’s ongoing investigation into what’s described as a “personnel matter.”

PIX11 Information obtained a textual content message from McGovern the morning after an preliminary report. She wrote, partly, “I’d be pleased to talk with you and offer you my aspect of the story. It really can be welcoming to lastly be heard.”

She didn’t write once more after that preliminary April 29 message.
