Heavy winds topples trees, downs power lines across New Jersey towns
High winds and near 50 mph gusts Wednesday night into Thursday morning are reportedly knocking down power lines and trees in some towns.
Denville police told News 12 that a tree came down in the storm pulling power lines down with it. They say the wires were across the lanes of Route 46 which forced the highway to close.
Police say the power lines have since been removed from the roadway and Route 46 is now open in both directions.
No injuries were reported.
JCP&L will clear the wires for the road to open, according to authorities. They say JCP&L is in storm mode and there is no estimated time of their arrival as of yet.
