Enjoy ‘Only Murders’ cookies locally as Schmackary’s opens location in New Jersey
‘The Bear,’ ‘Only Murders,’ and more of this summer’s hottest TV shows
USA TODAY TV critic Kelly Lawler lists this summer’s must-see TV shows, including the return of “The Bear” and “Only Murders in the Building.”
If you’re an “Only Murders in the Building” fan, then you are in for a treat.
Schmackary’s, a New York City-based bake shop has opened in New Jersey, according to NJBIZ. Its cookies made a cameo in season three of the comedy-drama series on HULU starring Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin.
The new storefront has found a home at 41 W. Palisade Ave. in Englewood. This is the first launch as part of the brand’s new franchise program.
The dessert brand, dubbed as the “Official Cookie of Broadway,” opened 12 years ago in the Theatre District and was founded by aspiring actor Zachary Schmahl, according to the report.
“It brings me great joy to celebrate the grand opening of our first franchise location. Richipal and Sonia are exemplary franchisees whose dedication and enthusiasm embody the spirit of Schmackary’s. Our Northern New Jersey customers can now enjoy our delicious cookies and coffee without the trek into the city,” Schmahl said.
There is a rotating menu of more than 100 flavors that includes red velvet, dulce de leche, key lime, oatmeal, green tea, butter pecan, cookie dough, sweet corn, caramel apple crisp and Funfetti. The brand also makes limited-edition themed cookies to tie in with big stage performances.
The new owners are a husband-wife team, from Fair Lawn, Richipal Bindra and Sonia Kaur. They were smitten with Schmackary’s after visiting the flagship location.
“We were comparing every franchise we could, but none of them stood out. That was, until we found Schmackary’s. Between their business model, incredible numbers and soul-filled culture, we were sold instantly,” said Bindra.
Schmackary’s is open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
