Carnival canceled after reports of several fights outside N.J. high school
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) — The ultimate evening of a carnival at Washington Township Excessive College in South Jersey was canceled after police say “a number of fights broke out amongst massive crowds” Friday evening.
Police say three folks, all below the age of 18, have been arrested. These three are from Camden, Pennsauken and Paulsboro, Washington Township police mentioned on Fb.
One officer was injured and was taken to Jefferson Hospital, Washington Township, handled for facial and head accidents, and launched.
Chaos is how folks on the annual carnival described Friday.
Police say no photographs have been fired and not one of the officers heard gunshots or noticed weapons, however rumors unfold on social media posts a couple of taking pictures on the occasion.
“At no level was it reported to any of the officers on the scene that there have been gunshots or a gun. None of our officers on foot patrol heard gunshots or noticed any weapons,” Washington Township Police Chief Pat Gurcsik wrote on Fb.
The chaos prompted a large police presence.
“Over 3,000 folks have been right here for the carnival,” police chief Patrick Gurcsik mentioned. “Lots of the people that have been preventing have been most undoubtedly not from Washington Township. So, it looks as if they got here from different cities to return right here and wreak havoc.”
Gurcsik mentioned the carnival was canceled after discussions he had with its organizers.
