25-year-old man from New Jersey drowns in Delaware River near Easton, police say

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A 25-year-old man from New Jersey drowned within the Delaware River round 11 a.m. Sunday, Easton police say. The person from Plainfield was swimming within the river when the present caught him and carried him downriver.

Two associates have been swimming with him and tried to rescue him, but needed to abort the try after they overlooked him.

The Easton Fireplace Division and Pennsylvania Water Rescue launched a rescue mission and located the person submerged 200 ft from the shore. 

He was pulled out of the river and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital the place he was declared deceased.

Easton police consider the person was within the river for about 50 minutes earlier than being situated.
