Yard Goats split doubleheader at New Hampshire to end trip
The Hartford Yard Goats hit three residence runs and cruised behind starter Noah Davis for a 4-1 victory towards the New Hampshire Fisher Cats within the first sport of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon in Manchester, N.H.
Davis struck out seven and allowed one run and 4 singles in 4 2/3 innings. Steven Jones retired all 4 batters he confronted for his first Double-A win.
Willie MacIver, Jimmy Herron and Kyle Datres all went deep because the Yard Goats averted a 3rd straight loss.
Fisher Cats starter Max Castillo fired 5 scoreless innings and mixed with three relievers on a 3-0 win within the second sport. The Yard Goats dropped 4 of six video games on their first street journey of the season and return residence to host Yankees affiliate Somerset on Tuesday.
In sport one, the Yard Goats scored a pair of runs within the first inning off Fisher Cats starter Paxton Schultz. Jameson Hannah led off with a single, stole second and took third on a flyout. With two outs, MacIver despatched a pitch over the left discipline fence, giving Hartford a 2-0 lead on his third homer of the season.
Herron ripped a line drive over the proper discipline fence to make it 3-0 within the second. It was his third homer in 9 at-bats in 2022.
Datres capped the homer parade with a solo shot within the fourth.
The Fisher Cats scored their solely run on Ryan Gold’s two-out single within the fifth inning.
