A cow named Charlie was rescued Monday after getting caught in his family’s swimming pool in Northfield, New Hampshire.
Northfield police said the cow was safely removed from the pool, which the department joked he accessed “bypassing necessary authorization and ignoring the seasonal inappropriateness of swimming due to chilly water conditions and water depth.”
“His fear and slight chill were apparent,” the department wrote of the cow’s demeanor during the rescue effort. “Subsequently, he was dried and offered apples.”
By the time first responders departed the scene, Charlie was safely roaming his pasture, according to the department.
