NEW HAMPSHIRE (WGME) — A late-night hike on Mount Webster Ridge in New Hampshire ended safely after one group of hikers helped another make it down the mountain.

Around 8 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified that three brothers had climbed Mount Webster Ridge and were having a hard time getting down. Rescuers responded, but officials said the hikers’ friends spotted their headlamps before crews could reach them.

The friends hiked up to meet the brothers, and the groups then hiked down together. They reached the bottom of the mountain around 10:30 p.m.

New Hampshire Fish and Game said everyone was well-equipped, and the friends’ decision to help led to a successful rescue.
