Driver In a Porsche Crashes Into A Utility Pole In Penacook; Car Nearly Cut In Half

CONCORD, NH — Concord police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a single-vehicle crash in Penacook that knocked out power to more than 100 Unitil customers on Wednesday night.

Around 8:15 p.m., dispatchers began receiving reports about a crash on Borough Road just before Fowler Street with unknown injuries. Before police and firefighters arrived, another caller told police dispatch there were definitely injuries.

The first arriving officers confirmed an early 1980s Porsche had crashed into a pole and there were serious injuries. Traffic was closed at River Street while firefighters and EMTs arrived at the scene around 8:30 p.m. Both the driver and a passenger were injured in the crash, according to reports from the scene, and a second ambulance was requested. It arrived around 15 minutes later. One person was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters.

Other officers also arrived to assist at the scene, interview witnesses, and follow the victims to Concord Hospital to be interviewed.

A tow truck and Unitil were requested to the crash scene.

Unitil’s power outage map shows around 129 customers without power on Borough Road, Fowler Street, Primrose Lane, and Millennium Way. Restoration is expected between 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.
