State economy nearly doubles US GDP growth in second quarter

HADLEY — Massachusetts’ real gross domestic product increased at a 4% annualized rate in the second quarter compared with 2.4% for US GDP.

“The big news is really not that,” said Alan Clayton-Matthews, senior contributing editor for MassBenchmarks. “It’s really that both economies, the state economy and the national economy, grew significantly faster than was expected three months ago.”
