Massachusetts man takes plea deal in Vermont shooting
BARRE CITY, Vt. (WCAX) – A Massachusetts man has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in connection with a shooting in Vermont.
The shooting happened in February 2022 in Barre City at the corner of Prospect and Burnham streets. Jason Batchelder was shot several times and survived.
Investigators identified Abimael Figueroa as the shooter. He was arrested two months later in Springfield, Massachusetts, on a charge of attempted murder.
Under a plea deal, Figueroa on Thursday pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and will serve six more years behind bars.
