Massachusetts man arrested for cocaine trafficking after traffic stop – Newport Dispatch

NORTH ATTLEBORO — A Massachusetts State Police trooper arrested a man early today on charges of cocaine trafficking following a routine traffic stop for illegal window tint.

Trooper William Rolls, assigned to the State Police-Foxboro, was patrolling Elm Street shortly after 3:30 a.m. when he noticed a white Jeep SUV with extremely dark window tint, including the windshield, driving past.

Rolls reversed direction and pulled over the vehicle.

Upon approaching the stopped Jeep, Rolls identified the driver as Derrel Graham, 29, of Roxbury.

After explaining the reason for the stop, Rolls tested the window tint and confirmed it was only 8% transparent, well below the minimum legal standard of 35%.

Deeming the vehicle unsafe for night driving due to the excessive tint on the windshield and front side windows, Rolls requested a tow truck.

Before the Jeep was removed, Rolls conducted an inventory of the vehicle’s contents and discovered a bag containing about 360 grams of a substance suspected to be crack cocaine.

Graham was arrested and taken to the Foxboro Barracks for booking.

A bail commissioner set his bail at $100,000.

Graham faces arraignment at Attleboro District Court on charges of trafficking in cocaine, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, and illegal window tint.
