Marlborough Mayor To Lead Hike At Ghiloni Park With DCR Commissioner
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough Mayor Christian Dumais will lead a community hike Sunday with Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Brian Arrigo and Adam Sell, a state resident working to complete hikes in all 351 of the state’s cities and towns.
Sunday’s hike, which is open to the public, will highlight the extensive trail network at Ghiloni Park. The park combined with the adjacent Marlborough State Forest covers over 125 acres and several miles of trails.
Attendees at Sunday’s event can expect a two-mile hike through the park, which will kick off with a speaking program near the park’s exercise equipment at the south end of the main parking lot. The event begins at 11 a.m. with the hike expected to begin around 11:15 a.m.
Sell runs the Hike Massachusetts Project, and Sunday’s hike will help him check Marlborough off his list. Sell has completed hikes nearby in Sudbury, Concord, Westborough and Ashland.
The event will coincide with Earth Day on Monday. There will also be other events happening around the region offering service opportunities at DCR natural areas.
