Instacart names Massachusetts’ favorite ice cream flavor. Do you agree with the choice?

BOSTON — Summertime and ice cream consumption go hand-in-hand like white on rice.

In celebration of National Ice Cream Day earlier this week, Instacart says it explored its vast purchase data to uncover each state’s beloved ice cream flavor by looking at which ice cream flavor each state buys the most compared to the national average.

While vanilla is the most popular ice cream in America, making up for 30 percent of all ice cream purchases through Instacart, there are much more exciting flavors that are enjoyed across the nation as well, according to the online delivery service.

“It’s no surprise most states in the country are partial to vanilla ice cream because it’s arguably the most versatile of them all,” said Laurentia Romaniuk, Instacart’s Trends Expert. “The luscious vanilla flavor effortlessly enhances a variety of desserts.”

The analysis found that 15 states on the East Coast prefer chocolate to vanilla, but not Massachusetts.

I scream, you scream…The Bay State screams for coffee ice cream.

Hawaii, New Mexico, and Rhode Island are with Massachusetts in sharing a love for the coffee flavor.
