Fire Hits Wakefield Home; 1 Hospitalized
WAKEFIELD, MA — Firefighters extinguished a two-alarm blaze at a Wakefield home on Friday morning.
The Wakefield Fire Department received multiple calls reporting a fire at about 10:45 a.m. at 21 Forest St.
Firefighters arrived at the home and found heavy smoke showing from the home and fire in a second-floor hallway. Firefighters searched the home and found no one inside.

The home’s lone resident returned later. The resident will stay with family as the home is not habitable, according to fire officials.
A firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and was transported to MelroseWakefield as a precaution.

Firefighters from Stoneham, Reading, Melrose, and North Reading provided mutual aid at the scene. Firefighters from Saugus, Woburn, and Lynnfield covered Wakefield stations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“I am grateful that no one was seriously hurt in this fire,” Fire Chief Michael Sullivan said in a statement. “Our mutual aid companies all worked very well together, and we appreciate their support and professionalism.”
